II installed from CDROM several days ago. I am a Linux newbie with computer experience since 1955. I have learned persistence and now have a system operating on an antique rock solid hardware, IBM Thinkpad 770. Several distros have failed to load at all. DSL-N was the first distro which caused a blinking light on my aging Microsoft wireless modem. Then several days passed while I learned to right click on the desktop and finally instsall ndiswrapper.
My wireless connection came to life and i am sitting upstars looking at the view across San Miguel de Allende, GTO, Mx where I retired to live in peace.
Two other computers are on line in my home, and only one now depends on Microsoft software. My wife will learn to separate herself from MS as I celebrate the Linux system adaptability.
This forum works. I have not been able to post on the official DSN-L forum. Oh well, no problema.

I have now done install on USB San Disk but the system does not boot without disk. The light on device does not come on and the Thinkpad 770 just has a blinking icon. Nothong more.
How can I boot from USB?
It is still fun.
