LFS 6.1.1-pre2 Released

The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the second pre-release of LFS 6.1.1. In addition to the fixes already made in LFS-6.1.1-pre1, this release addresses a bug in Glibc that prevents some programs (including OpenOffice.org) from running.

You can read the book online, or download to read locally.

This being a test release, we would appreciate you taking the time to try it out and report any bugs you find in it to the LFS development team at lfs-dev@linuxfromscratch.org.

The final release is planned for Wednesday 30th November.

i just might start something like this in my spare time ... i havent anything better to do. itd e a good long-term project and might be interesting to me for a while.

An old box and the LiveCD version should get you started. Make sure you read the hints for using the LiveCD in the hints files on the LFS site. It will save you from having to reinvent the wheel.
