BWT: Sun JDK/JRE 5.0 (the closed-source version) are now in the Debian unstable non-free section. Neat!

Excellent news! The glaring "how" to open source the code stated by Schwartz is the catch. It sounds like they want to retain ultimate control.

I'm looking forward to the details.

that seems interesting

we should see some real nice website setups in the future


personally if i worked for sun i think it wouldof been a bad decision for the company.

their are alot of ppl who are willing to program code but i guess sun is too lazy to do it. they could have like a request form and just charge the customers a fee to make something..

I just gave it a spin on my Ubuntu Dapper Drake test partition. Adding multiverse and installing sun-java5-jdk does the job.
