Looks like CentOS is in for a rough ride as all their funds disappear along with the only person in control of the domain name.

Too bad, I just made a couple of VM's using it and thought it was a fairly good distro, despite it's use of RPM. :p
But from another mailing list I am on, Scientific Linux is a rebuild of Red Hat and not CentOS based, so you if you have worries you can just change your repo.

CentOS has been one of my favorite distros. Hopefully the remaining developers can merge to a better grounded organization with shared leadership. It is their expertise that actually made CentOS possible. There is a letter to Lance Davis on the CentOS home page today. Maybe he will respond.

It looks like this was resolved to everyone's satisfaction. :)

The CentOS Development team had a routine meeting today with Lance Davis in attendance. During the meeting a majority of issues were resolved immediately and a working agreement was reached with deadlines for remaining unresolved issues. There should be no impact to any CentOS users going forward.

The CentOS project is now in control of the CentOS.org and CentOS.info domains and owns all trademarks, materials, and artwork in the CentOS distributions.

We look forward to working with Lance to quickly complete all the agreed upon issues.
