View Full Version : Virtualizatiobn software?
I am considering the addition Windows to the MacBook Pro.
Is there any advantage to Parallels vs. Virtual PC 7?
Should I increase the ram and hard drive space?

VirtualPC is slow compared to Parallels and VMWare, since it is a full CPU emulator.
Between Parallels and VMWare Fusion, I'd go for VMWare. It has always been more performant and stable for me. And it has a better user interface.
Besides that, any academic student or teacher can easily get a huge discount from the VMWare site.
Great advice. I'll check out VMWare.
I ordered a larger disk from Newegg. It should be in next week. I'll wait to install it then.
Thanks
This article by Alan Zisman (http://lowendmac.com/mac2win/10m2w/vmware-vs-parallels-2010.html) backs up Daniel's conclusion that VMWare Fusion 3.0 is the best option.

VMWare Fusion 4.0 is now out. Supports Lion in Lion :).
The 'FUSION20' coupon code gives 20% off.
Rats! I missed your coupon code. I did get the $49 price though so it isn't too bad. I'm waiting for the download link.
I need to run a couple of Windows only apps and it is painful to go back to my Dell.

You can just log in with your VMWare account to download it.
