Just a heads-up that one can easily rip Blu-Rays on Linux. I am 'digitizing' my Blu-Ray collection (playable from the network rather than disc). I bought a Samsung BD-ROM/DVD-RW combo drive, and installed it in my HP machine (surprisingly, no screwdriver required). Then I installed the MakeMKV software from:

Extracting video/audio tracks from a Blu-Ray disk is really trivial using this software, and will give you a huge (since no transcoding takes place) MKV file. I then use Handbrake to transcode the movie to 720p, also allowing for a bit more compression. Most movies are then ~4GB, but still very spiffy.
