From CRN:

"We will not have models available for Linux, and we do not have custom order, either," said Frank Kardonski, Lenovo's worldwide product manager for Lenovo 3000 offerings. "What you see is what you get. And at this point, it's Windows."

It was Lenovo that purchased IBM's PC division last year. I know full well that I shall not purchase any product from Lenovo and shall encourage others to pursue the same action.

The current models will still work, but like many hardware manufacturers, they will just follow the money. And most money leads to Redmond.
It's not like they are going to go out of their way to make Linux harder to run, they just need to cut costs to stay competitive and by limiting their official support to 1 OS they can save money.
I still plan on getting an X41 when I have money because I like the form factor. Linux is at a point were I can assume it will work well on most hardware despite what some sticker says it was designed for.

I think you are correct saying that. I transferred the HDD containing LN 2.8.1 from a from a laptop with a Transmeta CPU to a IBM Thinkpad A30 with an Intell P3. It booted without issues. I used Adminmenu to reconfigute the graphic and network.. One partition had Windoze 2000 which would not boot.at all. So much for M$ superiority.
