Now that I have two computers on my desk and possibly a third on the way, I need something to switch the keyboard, mouse, and monitor between them.

Do any of you sysops have a favorite KVM switch box for 2 to 4 computers?

Thanks, fos....

For a two computer setup I have used both the D-link and the IOgear KVM's. I much prefer the IOgear (http://www.iogear.com/main.php).

I have never had a problem, bar none, with the IOgear KVM.

The D-link KVM will occasionally cause either the mouse to hang or the keyboard to freeze. The work around for that is *prior* to selecting the other computer -- wiggle the mouse just a little.

Iogear has exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you.

I received my 4 port KVM switch this afternoon.

I ended up purchasing a Linkskey LKV-SO4SK with cables included for $39.99 from Directron.com.

I have three computers hooked up: an old Dell P2, my new Biostar AMD Athalon 3000+, and my main Via Mini-ITX M10000N. The included cables have the three connectors on the computer side and one connector on the switch side - very neat. The Dell has Debian 3.1, the Biostar has WinXP Pro, and my Via has Mepis 6.0. The only setup involved was plugging in the cables. It works perfectly feeding into a Gateway VX 1120 22" monitor.

The switch can be activated manually by four switches on the top of the box or by hot keys from the keyboard.

The Dell box is going to be my experimental unit. The Via is my main box for everyday stuff and the WinXP is required now that school is starting back. I have to use their grade software that will only work in windoze. :(

Now my next project is a new Intel box but that's going to have to wait for a few paychecks to pass by without any emergencies.
