Hi all,

I am attempting to install Xubuntu v6.06 on a desktop system. System paramaters are:

a. AMD Athalon 1.7ghz processor
b. 512Mb ram
c. Nvidia Riva TNT2 (model 64 64pro) video card with 32Mb ram
d. 40Gb IDE harddrive
e. Linksys Lne 10/100 network card
f. Micro innovation 3 button scroll wheel optical mouse (edit: PS2 mouse)

Am currently running Libranet v2.8 (Debian compatible) on this system and the system installed and works just fine (for over three years now).

Problem:

When I attempt to run Xubuntu and/or install it the mouse either freezes, dies or operates erratically. This occurs just before livecd screen (Xfce) screen appears (allowing for either installation or trying the xubuntu system).

I have done:

a. md5sum of the xubuntu .iso file prior to burning to CD
b. Tried the safe graphic mode of installation
c. Checked the files on the CD

All to no avail.

I could use some help on this.

Thanks folks.
