View Full Version : Mepis 6.0 RC3
Mepis has made 6.0 rc3 available for seven days. It includes bug fixes and some removals due to GPL violations. The final release is scheduled for later this month.
I'm looking forward to the final release. RC2 did well for me.
I still haven't found a replacement that lives up to Libranet. Maybe this is it?

I'm now running Mepis 6 RC3. This is the easiest Linux to set up I have ever used. Even with the nvidia geforce motherboard, sound, usb, and the print function all worked right off the bat. With the printer, I can even select black cartridge draft mode only and save the color ink!
I'm still waiting for the final release later this month. This could be the one.

Will have to download and install so I can see what packages it is using and see if I can duplicate it on debian! :) Just cannot make myself use anything but debian anymore...
The new Mepis is based on Ubuntu 6.06. So, in a way it is still Debian. Mepis reminds me a lot of Libranet. I hope its business plan will allow it to stay in business for the long term.
I'm uneasy about Ubuntu and its derivatives. Time will tell.
