Hello folks im running ubuntu dapper with w32codescs installed
when i try and play the videos here http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/german/talk/introductions/index.shtml
They dont work the player be it vlc mplayer realplayer totem etc. Comes up some mplayer/realplayer play the audio but show no video just black screen the other players do nothing. Do they work for any of you?

Just tried the link you provided and what happened to you happened to me as well. It pulled mplayer with the 'rm' codec (v8).
Normally I use gxine with all the various codecs and have no problem.
Am using Xubuntu dapper drake.

I'm using Kubuntu 6.06 at the moment. Tried to open with Totem. I'm afraid without success

The files are Realplayer format. Look here for info on players and browser (https://player.helixcommunity.org/?from=forms&href=https%253A%252F%252Fplayer.helixcommunity.org %252F%253Ffrom%253Dforms&pageid=unagi.8083677&pageregion=bottom_stage_text&src=linux&pcode=rn&opage=linux) plugins.
There are Debian packages.
# apt-get install helix-player mozilla-helix-player realplayer
