Can anyone recomend a program that can automatically fix red eyes in photos? Preferable a debian package although building from source is no problem either...
Thanks

I don't know of anything automatic, in that you need to select the area to remove the redeye. F-spot has "red eye removal" in it's menu. There was a Linux Journal article a few years ago about using the Gimp:

KDE? showFoto does it with the kipi plugins. It does it well, just tested it.

Thanks!
I have just one propblem. 'kipi-plugins' wants to delete 'kdelibs-bin' and replace it with 'kdelibs'.
This is what apt-cache says about them:
kdelibs-bin:
Description: core binaries for all KDE applications
This package contains all the common binaries with are used by KDE
applications. You need these binaries to run KDE applications.
.
Several scripts included in kdebase-bin, related to the handling of SMB
and NFS shares, require the perl-suid package to work properly.
.
This package is part of KDE, and a component of the KDE libraries module.
See the 'kde' and 'kdelibs' packages for more information.
kdelibs:
Description: core libraries from the official KDE release
KDE (the K Desktop Environment) is a powerful Open Source graphical
desktop environment for Unix workstations. It combines ease of use,
contemporary functionality, and outstanding graphical design with the
technological superiority of the Unix operating system.
.
This metapackage includes the core KDE libraries, binaries, and data,
needed by virtually all KDE applications. It does not include
development files.
It looks to me that it should be safe but I have this eerie feeling of a lurking disaster..?
Any thoughts?
Tina :)
Edit: I'm running Debian Etch by the way...

An upgrade I did June 23 removed kdelibs-bin and replaced it with kdelibs...
Everything seems to work just fine, but I never did have any SMB or NFS shares to bother about..
YMMV, of course, but I think kdelibs-bin is deprecated and functionality is assumed by kdelibs

I have kdelibs 4.3.5.3-1 installed, think this is part of the kde update. You could try installing the plugin from sarge, it may use the other lib.

Well, the changelog of kdelibs (http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/k/kdelibs/kdelibs_3.5.3-1/changelog) explains it.
So I guess it should be safe to go ahead and let apt do it's thing...

Update: My system survived with no problem. 'kdelibs-bin' was removed and replaced with updated 'kdelibs' and 'kdelibs4c2a' and KDE seem to be happy with the changes.
And now; back to the red eyes... :)
