View Full Version : Linux Agora - New Logo

Andre has developed a new logo that symbolically reflects the new purpose of the Linux Agora Forum. I'd like to share his thoughts:

I chose the "baby.penguin" to reflect the joviality that should remain within the forum in spite of the seriousness of the subjects discussed at times (wich is illustrated by the "classic" background picture).

I colored the background picture, from black, to give it a more "background" feel in regards to the front elements. I chose that red... for "Debian" which was the original forum name (debianquestions) (and I am a bit Debian biased since it is not own by anyone and, thus, is truly a "Universal OS").

The font is "Century Schoolbook" which reflects the "learning element" of the forum.

Thanks to Andre and Stafio for their contributions to the forum.

I'm trying to decide whether I like the transparent penguin (i.e. the agora visible through his right eye and tummy).

The dark red is perfect!

On close inspection, I see what you mean Harold.

I need stronger magnifiers or a larger screen. :)

Reading fos op earlier I was like "New logo? What new logo??" I couldn't see any new logo. Then suddenly Harold commented on it... "What??"

Then I got the bright idea to refresh the page... :P

Anyway, It's nice (when the transparent penguin is fixed) but I don't like the frame around it. Makes it look like a picture hanging on the wall.

Looking something like this it seem more 'integrated' in a way:

But as usual... just my thoughts :)

I love it :D. I also like Tina's and Harold's comments.

Andre had produced two versions, transparent and white. Whenever Verizon gets my DSL link fixed I'm going to upload the white version. I had already planned to remove the frame on the vbulletin forum since the entire header is a graphic rather than just the upper left corner.

If the frame is removed, then the right side of the building just sort of ceases to exist for no apparent reason.

I can see removing the frame only if the white space in the logo and the background on which the logo sits are the same color.

I know, but all I did was cut out the image from the frame and about 5 sec just to illustrate. It will of course need a little more work...

Again it has to be adapted. I still like logos that sort of blend into the header...

Try refreshing to see my attempt at logo frame removal.

Humor me, please. What would the logo look like if the penguin and "Linux Agora" were lowered just enough that the steps of the agora were not covered? Or maybe not covered quite as much. The alignment of the penguin and the text to each other is perfect.

Hm, now the new logo really rocks! Not to cute and not shop-spolied either ... Congrats!
