I had to drop back to win2k from a pirated copy of XP that the reseller had installed on this Dell desktop. Well, not a lot of fun. Couldn't find the graphics card (plain old ATI), couldn't find the soundblaster card, nor the serial to usb cable, or the cd burner, nor the 4 port usb hub......and the list goes on and on. Geez what a PITB(A). My Debian testing is as solid as a rock....found all the hardware at install. And my kids wonder why I "play" with Linux.

My stepdaughter just move in with us until she gets established in the land of ice and snow. Her Asus laptop with XP can not find my wifi and her LAN connection can not get past my router. Since I don't do Windows she does her surfing on her Asus as a thin client.

try setting up the lan connection manually. i do so i know where everything is on my network. get a new copy of netstumbler www.netstumbler.com (http://www.netstumbler.com) and see if the network shows up on their. if it does not, mayabe your card is wireless-b and ur router is wireless-g , or ssid brodcast isnt enabled on your router.
