I'm going to assume that everyone here is running some form of LInux.
I'm running Libranet/Debian Sarge
My gcc version is: 3.3.5-8
My Bash version is: 2.05b
To get the gcc version, type: gcc -v at a command prompt
To get the bash version, type: bash --version at the command prompt.
In general, this beginning programming will be performed in a terminal mode, either in a straight terminal, CTRL - ALT - F1 or from a terminal window in a GUI environment such as KDE or GNOME, whichever your preference.
Which versions of gcc and bash are the rest of you running?
How about your systems in general?
Jeff
