Somehow, and I don't know how, my bios is locked on my IBM A20. I know for a fact I didn't lock it. Question is how do I un-lock it. ??

The security on IBM Thinkpads is pretty good. Do you have the owner's manual.

On most mother boards, you can either remove the back up batter or short the reset pin. That doesn't necessarily work on IBM laptops. I have an old TP 760D, if the admin password was lost or forgotten you were out of luck. The only recourse was to replace the motherboard. Even IBM tech support could not reset the password.

If you don't have the manual, you may be able to download it from IBM's site. They still have info, drivers, and manuals available for the 760 and it is a 96 vintage machine.

Well it was easy to fix.....when you first drop to the bios a lock appears in the upper left corner. I "assumed" it was looking for a password. Well it turns out all you do is hit the enter key and off you go to play in the bios. And yes full docs, and drivers etc are still available from IBM.

That is good news. IBM's security is supposedly the best in the business. You can even lock each hard drive on one of their laptops.

The US government "misplaces" so many laptops, they should invest in IBM type security????
