Morg made an interesting suggestion in one of our "Hot" threads. He wondered whether we should hide the general messages from non-members. I thought I would generate a poll to see what the members think.

PS. I'm not sure whether the forum intruders were Men in Black, FEDS, or just teenage hackers. We didn't actually have a breach, but I did receive a slew of warnings. The update to 3.6.2 and a repair/optimization of all database records solved the problem.

I would think teenage hackers is a fairly safe bet. They cruise around the web trying out suspected (or known) vulnerabilities 'just because they can'. Usually you are targeted because you run certain software not because of what's actually on your site.

As for making the forum readable to member only: If no one can see what's going on here exactly what will motivate people to sign up?

Probably was just a "bolt" sitting on an "ignorant" user's computer and randomly searching for a "hole" in some "windows"...

Well. . .They could be teenage hackers working for the Men in Black or the FEDS. I think that we should start using code to communicate. U-youday-comprehend-ay?

Just in case of invasion, I have seceretly installed a 250 ml bottle of concentrated nitric acid (HNO3) in my PC (along with some potassium permaginate and glycerin). If anyone tampers with it, the acid will pour out and the HDs will be destroyed (along with the building and it's inhabitants).

I hope this isn't a false alarm.

We actually had 43 users logged in at the same time earlier today.

The Feds are rallying the troops!

So, i take it there was some kind of event experianced recently. I'll assume yes, no need to go into any detail though.

In terms of the thread title ... if you mean thing that , i guess, are desplayed in the 'messages' box at the bottom of the page. Which seems to suggest it provides a status feed back in relation to posts, or to whats happen on the page .. i would vote yes. As it can only have relevance to loged in users.

But as i'm posting in the same box after clicking on te 'reply' button ... then if by 'mesages' it's refering to actual posts, i would have to vote no. Because, as mentioned above .. how would people other wise get to know whats going on ...

I do find this 'vBulletin' a very interesting system, very different to the commonly used PostNuke.

Please do not make this a "closed" list.
