Something that should be in everyone's toolbox.
Gparted is a very easy-to-use partitioning tool.
Now it is available on a bootable CD image ~30 MB.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to check it out. Modifiying the hard disk partitions can be one of the biggest obstacles to someone trying out Linux.

I'm already sold on Grml.
Another cool feature of Grml is the init-system.
Instead of using /etc/init#.rc directories it uses a single file:
/etc/runlevel.conf. Very easy to understand and edit in a text editor.
