Maybe I am way off track. Why would a "Linux" based magazine have a troll for an editor? Increase subscriptions? (no)

Maybe he has an "axe to grind". (why?)

I used to like reading Linuxjournal. I liked reading Marcel, Doc Searls , Bruce Byfield, and Robert Love. BTW, Dave Taylor is a nice new addition.

And the company did their best to destroy the on-line Linuxgazette:

I'll let my 3-year subscription lapse.

"Linux Format" is a better user magazine. More how-to and tutorial things for users. Less cruft about such and such company's master plan.

More practical user info. More hacks. More fun.

I miss "Maximum Linux" (http://www.systemtoolbox.com/bfarticle.php?content_id=18) magazine.

I am a LWN.net subscriber, in my experience they have the best in-depth articles. With occassionally very nice coverage of new kernel features, technologies, and discussions. Besides that, membership is quite affordable.

I was a charter subscriber to Linux Journal. They were quite good for several years. Their assault on LinuxGazette was particularly dirty. I didn't renew my subscription a couple of years ago. I pick and choose at the bookstore. I usually end up with Linux Format and pay the British tax.
