I did an apt-get dist-upgrade to testing. I have been running etch for as
long as it was available as testing.
My Palm TX now complains warning
pi_bind error: /dev/pilot No such file or directory
Now
jpb@maple:~$ ls -l /dev/pilot
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2007-06-06 10:34 /dev/pilot -> /dev/ttyUSB1
however now
jpb@maple:~$ ls -l /dev/ttyUSB1
ls: /dev/ttyUSB1: No such file or directory
what does /dev/pilot bind to now??

I
ls: /dev/ttyUSB1: No such file or directory
what does /dev/pilot bind to now??
I noticed this too.
There must have been some changes in the kernel.
If you plug in the device and attempt to sync, isn't ttyUSB1 created?
I have to touch the sync button on my palm z22 before I click on "sync' in jpilot.
Try keeping an xterm window open and run dmesg in between pluging the device in and attempting to sync to find out if (and when ttyUSB1) is created.
I had some problems in the past in which each time i connected the z22 another set of device files were connected.
Eg: 1st time ttyUSB0 & ttyUSB1
2nd time ttyUSB2 & ttyUSB3

That has all been changed /dev/ttyUSB* has been replaced
the port setting is not /pilot anymore it is now usb:
don't forget the colon.

The order of which sync is started first is now not seem important. Before I had to start the pilot sync them jpilot sync. This is a great imorovement.
