View Full Version : What is your desktop like?
Here is my shack. The small ITX box on top of the cube is my "main" computer based on a Via C3. The cube below has an Athalon 3000 and the box on the left is the old Dell that was set up as the "home server".

Please note: My desk is rarely this clean. I subscribe to - "If a cluttered desk indicates a cluttered mind. What does an empty desk indicate?"

Main workhorse
Printer and scanner are mounted on drawers within left desk compartment
Two other boxes are located elsewhere on the LAN
There's a glimpse of Higgins' water bowl at lower right
My refreshment is nearby, also... ;)

Hmmm, it's a permanent mess :). Stacks of CDs (I like music when I work), a lot of paper with notes.

(With possibility of letting my ignorance show)
What kind of keyboard is that Daniel?
Tina
That has to be a Happy Hackers keyboard. ;)

Well spotted fos ;). It's a Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite 2 (http://www.pfusystems.com/hhkeyboard/leaflet/photo.html). It's kinda funky. No unnecessary keys, Esc and Control at the right places for vi and EMACS. And I can easily take it with me for my notebooks.

Im loving that happy hackers keyboard- it would be nice for all of the systems I try to use at the same time with the little space on my desk.
This is just half of my stuff (most of its packed in my closets)
Pic 1- This is my desk, the system on the far left is A Dual pentium III processor, Tyan Tiger 230 mobo with little ram, I run my teamspeak Server and Backup my game server files onto this.
The black system to the right of it is the First computer i've built. Its alittle outdated but it still works- Amd athlon 3200 1.95 ghz, 1.5 Gb ram, ATI radeon 9200 video card.
The small laptop on the right of that is currently broken, The hd on it decided to burn out so its jsut been sitting there since.- Sony Vaio 64 mb ram and 933 mhz goldmine core processor. Almost no video memory on this laptop. The system on the far right is the rescent one i've built, Its currently broken and when running it does have some video card problems.- Its specs are 120 gb Hard drive, AtI sapphire quad-core video card with 512 mb video memory and 900 mhz per processor on it. Amd athlon 64 2.4 ghz processor.
You must be a neatnik, RedFox. Nice shack.
Is that one of those new motorized flywheel wireless Logitech mice? If so, how do you like it?
I hope you are having a nice summer.

Yeh this mouse4 is retty nice, the batteries seem to never get low- i usually jsut put it on charge once a week during the night. Its ery nice i havent had any problems with it yet since the 5 years i've owned it. And the signal strength on it is so great i can use my computer from the living room (about 20 ft & 3 walls) I origionally bought it with a wireless keyboard but it died on me since i spilt a soda on it.
My summer's going great, just enjoying days of no school :p

*Correction* It is a sapphire ATI Radeon x1600 PcI Express x16 512 mb 256 bit interface. This card has 4 data processors on it (900 Mhz each)
My Processor on that system is a Amd Athlon 3200 Venice, Socket 939, 2.01 ghz default (2.4 Overclocked)
The mobo is a Ecs KN1 Extreme v1.0 Running with a gig of ram.
^When that system is running it can take the room temperature from 78F to 83 degrees Fahrenheit, Its off most of the time.
My desk is a mess, I always run out of room esp with 2 keyboards.
And the wires behind my desk can almost be considered a Fire Hazard with cables varying from Serial to Fiber optic lines that run into my closet.
Ive created a Photo album on Photobucket of some of the pc junk i own
