In case of you didn't know, this week is the big E3 games show down in LA. It's the biggest (afaik) electronic game convention in the world. Everyone is down there showing their next big thing. There's alot of press coverage in recent years (though nothing compared to the press coverage during the decadent dot-com years).

With all the press I've never seen report of a Linux gaming company down there. Do any Linux game dev shops care about this expo? I would think getting gaming world acceptance would go a long way in legitmizing Linux for the home desktop. I know alot of you don't care, but Joe Average does and Tux Racer doesn't cut it by itself.

Anyway, just musing through these thoughts, wanted to throw that out there for comments.

You would think that there would have been, over the years, more activity in this area. Bigger companies seem to not bother with Linux. I rarely here anything from any Linux gaming company except for what I read about in "Linux Format" magazine. But there seems to be little in the area of homebrew games for Linux too. With the open source freely available to anyone, you would think that there would be tons of games, even bad ones. I know nothing about programing, so I do not know what it would involve in doing something in the area of gaming. I am a gamer. I am interested in learning something about programing, but I do not know where to begin. It would have to be something easy to pick up and learn.
