Photo Album

I am looking for something to create a photo album. I'll be using digital pics already on the hd and scanned pics from a family collection. I would like to add comments with each pic with who is in the pic and hopefully the event. Just a short 2-3 line blurb. It will have to work with MS as I'm the only family member using Linux. I really don't want to load MS to work on this project. BTW we are talking 3000+ pics. This is my retirement project slated for a March 1st '08 start date.

I have used Coppermine as a web based application. It is pretty nice. You would have to have apache and mysql running on your machine and access it through the browser interface. Probably overkill.

I'd recommend JAlbum - well designed software, powerful, very good support forums, and it's even free (although donations are appreciated).
